I have been working on a side project with some friends to develop an open source embodied intelligence companion using on-device LLMs.

My target use case is a speech therapy companion, especially to help with single parent households where the burden, cost and time of hiring a speech therapist can run from $600-$1,200 / money.

An open source robot speech practice robot with an LLM could be revolutionary and save tremendous time and costs.

My other use cases are reminders for kids, ADHD executive function support and autism skills coaching.

Our first demo has been completed, in the future we want to increase community participation, work towards one or more LLMs which are trained in speech coaching as well as autism skills coaching.

The initial robot uses whisper, home assistant.
